Let’s face it, the score was irrelevant. This was an occasion to wish a happy retirement to a club legend and all-around good egg: Cliffy. It was a glorious day; we drank, ate, chatted and remembered times past. I wonder whose testimonial we’ll see Cliffy pulling his boots on again for.

Sale managed to stay more-or-less in touch until about five minutes into the second half when Bristol’s superior speed and accuracy started to tell and they pulled away with a couple of quick strikes.
